IIRC, Ferdinand Porsche also built hybrid vehicles with electric motors at each wheel and a central generator waaaay back when. Sounds familiar somehow.

Keith, at the time of his death in 1903, my great grandfather was working an all electric car with motors at each wheel and 4 wheel steering. Sadly he never got past the planning stage and even if he had there were 2 other companies named Eureka. Not to mention there were hundreds of poeple "planning" to build automobiles at the time.
Given Porsche designed Auto Union racing cars the friendly rivalry seems only natural.
