This was awesome racing. No aero, slippery tires, cars are moving around a lot. You can see how hard the drivers are working. Lots of battles and passing, and close finishes.

I lived in Montreal for about 6 years and Mosport was one of my home tracks. I’m surprised how many of those names are familiar to me. Rick Bye is the one who showed me the secret to Tremblant’s corner 2 during a track walk we did together at a PCA event.
Thanks for posting this, as of 3 weeks ago the Pop84 Scott Goodyear was sitting behind the granstand at Toronto Motorsports Park in very nice, very original condition.
Between the spec Porsches, spec Hondas and spec F-bodies there used to be a lot of very close, very entertaining support races at Mosport, often better than the featured pro series. We would spend the weekends there at least three times a summer. You had the 6Hours, Can-Am , and Trans-Am weekends. Throw in the Trois-Rivieres weekend prior and I'd have a ten day vacation with racing at both ends. Richard Spenard could drive anything well and should have had a chance at bigger series.
Why I love my 924s and the other 944 variants that I have had on track all these years. It is funny. I loved the 951 on the street but a simple underpowered 924s or early 944 was my go to for the most fun on the track. I felt like I really had done something in one of these cars when I clicked off a good lap.
I have saw the original TV broadcast of that race, and watched it on You Tube a time or two. To this day, I still wonder what happened at the 7:16 mark https://youtu.be/ag572GXmFrg?t=441
A car is off the track at the exit of 3 on driver's left, with seemingly no damage. It looked like it just pulled off. The chase car was with the car next time around https://youtu.be/ag572GXmFrg?t=497
Then next time the broadcast shows the corner there is an ambulance on scene https://youtu.be/ag572GXmFrg?t=653
It remained there until the end https://youtu.be/ag572GXmFrg?t=906
Here's in car footage of Scott Goodyear running thru the pack at St Jovite in the 944 Cup race circa 1988.
