OK, I don't care for silver cars. But I saw an ad come up for an '06 Vette at a decent price and I started thinking "can candy apple red be sprayed using the metallic silver paint as the base coat?" It seems it would only need a light sanding before painting.
I would say yes. House of Colors candy colors are three stage. I used to use gold first but you can use silver. IIRC it would just effect the shade of the red you would receive. You might find it tough to find a auto refinisher that would do it, but you don't know if you don't ask.
