As I understand the rules you can recoup no more than the purchase price of your car. In my situation I paid $500 for my car. Suppose I sell $500 in parts. Then suppose I trade remaining parts 4 other parts. Do I have to add the FMV of parts in trade to my budget?

For example if I trade my hood for a set of used shocks. I've already met my recoup limit so do I have to count the FMV of the shocks i received in trade towards my budget?

Current rules do not restrict trading, as long as they are items already accounted for in the budget.

So if I trade a part that was a part of the initial purchase I don't have to account for the part I received?
