When I was picking out a QR for Midlana, off-road shops have them and it pays to play with the display models. The trick is finding one you can both afford AND has little or even no play. Got lucky on both counts.

I think I've only made one sober before, no issues yet. (the steering wheel that did break off wasn't my creation)
^this, it isn't rocket science. just make sure the hardware you use is installed with loctite and checked for tightness from time to time.
