was just browsing around raceimage at all the stellar deals on used NASCAR suits, etc....
So what is the difference between the racing suits and the "pit crew" suits? Seems like something I should know, but I never much paid attention.
e.g. are the pit crew suits certified for driving as well, or just for working as fuelman or fireman or whatever?
AFAIK, there is no different spec for driver vs. crew. It's either SFI rated or it's not. If it is, you can drive with it.
thanks, that's what I was hoping.
Plus the crew suits seem to be cheaper and not quite as cheesy as many of the driver's suits.
I don't know about NASCAR suits per se but If I remember correctly generally pit crew suits are two piece with a separate jacket and pants and driver's suits are one piece. In my case I needed the suit for rally and I was not allowed a two piece suit so I had to buy a driver's suit.
This one is awesome:
i'm schizophrenic, and so am i!
from the ad:
SIMPSON DISPLAY SAMPLE. This suit was designed to be shown at the store to point out different racing suit features. You'll notice one leg is boot cut, one is cuffed. One shoulder has an Epalet, the other does not. One arm is gusseted, the other is not. There is an arm restraint on one side. Pretty goofy set up, but at this price, for a new suit, how can you go wrong?? NO SFI Patch
so get it if you're a kook, but don't get it if you need an SFI tag.

odd, looks like the NASCAR driver's suits are two-piece as well.
one would think if it's ok for NASCAR, it would be ok for anything.
btw, look for the "EXTENZE" driver's suit and read the accompanying text...
I had one piece suit in 95 to fuel a car in the Busch Series, I doubt anyone has driven with a two piece in atleast that long
edit, I looked at a few on the site and I was wrong. I am surprised anyone would wear one but there are still a few

IDK, in my size on there (34" waist, 31-33 inseam) almost all of the drivers' suits are two-piece. I think only one of them is 1-pc.

The FIA or SFI tag is all tech cares about but crew suits tend to be boot cut and not as comfortable or pretty (or as expensive).
EDIT: Just noticed DILYSI response... +1.
I've been searching for a used firesuit, but at my size, the only ones that fit belonged to Danica Patrick.

At a staggering 125 lbs, my moobs are purely muscle. I'd need the padded bra to help out. Then again... are what Danica has considered boobs?

I hope you get that cleaned before using it.
