Hi Guys,
Got myself some entry-level driving gloves from RaceQuip the other day. I tried them out in the Genesis the other night. It actually feels more slippery than when I don’t use them. Did I miss something? Am I supposed to break them in or something?
A little confused...

I've found that gloves without some sort of rubber on the fingers or palm only give good grip on suede-like wheels. Fortunately, since most of my racing is in karts, this doesn't pose an issue. I was surprised when I first felt how slippery a leather steering wheel was in gloves without some sort of stickiness built into them.
I have a pair of Alpine stars with the rubber grippy spots on the fingers and palm and a pair is Sparcos without. I reach for the Alpines every track day
I've used "mechanics" gloves for years. Seem to work well on leather wheels.

The primary feature of racing gloves is fire safety, grip on the wheel comes after that. Probably if you look up the model chain you'll find a set that are both SFI-rated and have high-grip.
The leather palmed gloves take a while to break in. They have decent grip once they get scuffed up and absorb enough sweat/dirt.
Gloves are for protection. Not for feel.
I've tried a bunch and prefer bare hands if I could get away with it.
I hate driving with gloves on. I only wear them under conditions where I'm wearing a fire suit.
