Just did my first Rallycross and it was amazing! Shared a drive with a friend who has a '99 Hyundai Accent that's gutted with a half cage and gravel tires. I've been autocrossing for years but always wanted to get into the dirt. I'm hooked and intend on running with him next season. Might try our Forester XT for the winter event.
Unfortunately we had an alternator failure and missed out on the last 3 runs but still a great time.
If I can find some pics I'll post them. Some awesome cars, mainly Subaru's, and all my favourite GC versions. Need to get some ride alongs to see how these guys go so fast.
Now my friend with the Accent is thinking of selling his WRX with Hotbits suspension and buy a complete Rally car, something he wants to start doing.
Anybody want to buy a mint '88 Mustang LX 5.0L, just kidding, maybe...

Why not rallycross the Mustang?
As one of the regulars said "Approximately 103% of people who try rallycross eventually mostly give up on autocross to devote their time/energy/money to rallycross."
Welcome to the insanity.

Believe me, I've considered it.

Exactly how I feel. Autocross is fun but I can't stop thinking about sliding around a car in the dirt.

quoted for complete truth. I know a few guys who do both still, but know more people who started doing rallycross and just kind of lost interest in autocross.
I autocrossed for almost 20 years but haven't been to one since I started rallycrossing. I do plan to do one soon, but in the rallycross car (modified RWD) as-is except with some star specs. Should be good for some laughs.
Oh, and just make your mustang the rallycross car! If you thought FWD and/or AWD rallycross is fun (which it is), RWD is a whole new level of rallycross fun.
I will be bringing this back to life in 2014 as a Rallycrosser, with a couple of new mods.

I will say irish44j is one of many who got me addicted, problem is this year life got in the way. Really want to try for a whole season in 14!
Btw is it sad im thinking more on how to make my MP5 more suitable for the dirt rather then my RX8 stick to the track better?
Oh, crap. Let me find that thing.
Yeah. Here it is. An SVT Cobra at one of our Rallycross events.

Your flat brim hat is in the mail bro.
Rallycross FTW. More seat time than an AutoX, free runs after the event, and much less standing around. Trouble for me is - now I drive AutoX's like I am Rallycrossing! Sure times suck when you are sliding and sideways, but its so much fun.

This looks like the ultimate! However, unlikely to happen unless someone owns a big plot and is willing to take on the risk/write up the waiver.

Showing up to one of our events in a flatbrim is likely to result in significant ridicule, which will only increase once your slammed GTI gets stuck in a rut and/or is very slow on course :)
