Being that just like the rest of us, I'm a gear head and like cool stuff.  I've had several cars in the past with factory recaro seats, VW's, Audi's, Porsches, etc.  I've always loved them, I fit in them well.

I've been loosely searching for a recaro office chair because my current office chair is well worn.

I found someone selling two locally but he wanted to sell them as a pair.  Sadly one of them was pretty beat up and the funky old school Recaro orange fabric, which is impossible to match.  I gave some thought to buying a set of Audi B7 recaro seats and then making an adapter plate to put on my current chairs base, but then I got lucky.

A single recaro office chair popped up and I was lucky enough to be the first person to contact the seller.  Turns out he restore vintage IMSA cars as a hobby, his Dad was a player in IMSA back in the early '90's and this recaro chair was owned by the owner of IMSA.  We had a great time chatting for ~1.5 hours and I brought the chair home.

It desperately needs to be shampoo'ed, which I'll do tomorrow.  It's otherwise in great shape, not torn or worn out, with maybe the exception of the left arm rest. I'm stoked about this!

That's cool.

We have a couple of those in the firehouse. They were originally in our dispatch center. Dispatchers sit all day and I am impressed that the town did the right thing and bought something this good for them. We got them when they re-did their space. Even though they were pretty worn out when we got them, they're still super comfy.

Vintage Recaros are simple and super easy to refurb.

Very cool. I appreciate the subtly.

As I posted a month or so ago in another thread they make airliner seats and we put them into submarines for the fellas.

edit:

Here is the tray table lock on my last flight...

Vacuumed and shampoo'ed the seat.

First pass.  Happy to see that what I thought was wear on the left armrest and headrest was just a whole bunch of dirt

Second pass with the shampoo machine, it's pretty much there.  I might hit it one more time just because

yep, one of the "big 3" in that industry.  I work for one of the others.

Recaro is the only one that carries branding, and even then it doesn't on most of its models.

Fun fact, that's actual Recaro, as is their esports/gaming products.  Recaro automotive is licensed out.

Long ago I salvaged a really nice pair of MBtex buckets from a W201 with the intent of swapping them into the J20. That still hasn't happened. I keep thinking I need to turn them into office slash sim rig chairs.

When the driver's seat from my CRX Si came out when I prepped the car for racing, it went onto a salvaged office chair base (it even fit between the arm rests). Now just waiting for the kid to go to college so I can re-claim it - apparently it makes a pretty decent gaming chair.
