I would rock that.
One of the cooler mercedes swaps I've seen online was an SHO into a mercedes 380sl with a skipped timing chain. That looks like a cool engine.
In reply to bigbens6:
I'd rather have a 330hp Hyundai that weighed much less to get 30% better mileage. 200 in a car that apparently needs 330 for mid range go fast wouldn't get great mpg I'd imagine.
Other than that, 230 in my truck was a serious upgrade in power for 93, but now a base model v6 Ram has more. And yes, I've wondered if the new v6 or the 390hp v8 would get better mileage in my vehicle.
I looked into that motor as a swap candidate, but way too many SHO forums had people talking about how the cam gears are just sorta pressed onto the cams, and then the cam gets expanded like with a exhaust tube flanger and they expected the gears to stay put but they often didn't. Then I came to my senses and didn't try to swap that particular car at all.

That problem was specific to the V8s.
Find a 3.0 Ranger's 5 speed and see if you can make a hybrid thunderbird M5OD to get the shifter in the right spot. Or just a shifter extender.
They still make 'em the old way once in a while. I'm pretty happy living in 1986 again with my 100HP 2300lb brand new Mazda.
A few years ago (like 8), my buddy and I had a grand notion to swap that engine into his 99 V6 Mustang. We found one in the junkyard that had been rear ended but we didn't have enough time to pull the engine out before the yard closed. Went back the next day and they had crushed the car! Good thing they had a dozen old Chevy trucks that were pretty much frames still sitting there for years. Idiots...
That killed that idea...
Huh. 220hp you say?
The Spirit and IROC R/T's with the DOHC, turbo and intercooled 4-cylinder produced 224hp during the same period of time.
I'm not impressed with the SHO from a overall power output standpoint, but from the change in direction that Ford took to make it into production with it. Especially in something so pedestrian. They also make beautiful noises :)
An SHO-powered Mustang (or re-born Thunderbird SPORTS CAR to go after the Corvette as it was originally envisioned to do) would have been awesome and potentially something that could sell if done properly.
Instead, moar of the same for the Mustang and the T-bird was a less useful Lincoln luxo barge for all intents and purposes.
Performance really dropped in the late 1970s / early 1980s. The following are specs for the 1976 Corvette 350 C.I.D. witrh a four speed:
1976 Chevrolet Corvette C3 Specifications

This is slower than my 1999 Neon when it was bone stock. However, the Vette was prettier while being slow.
Only the v8's? Ah so. Well, I ain't in a position to do that project anyhow. Now I wanna save pennies for a clean dead 966 and an 4ltr audi 8banger...
I convinced a friend to buy a broken V8 SHO as a motor swap donor before we knew what to put it in.
Right now he is considering a 60's italian roadster, whatever comes along cheap-ish.
Although i have tried to talk him into putting it in a Metropolitan.
There's one on local craigslist for $500. It needs a ton of work, but it runs and drives. I'm damn tempted... mainly to put the motor in my father's OSI, or until I can find a cheap first gen Lotus Esprit and do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJfVCCMj6xU
BTW...

It's been done... with a pair of turbos in tow:
