Well, they just canned Indy as quickly as they could get it off the schedule, and seemed to have reduced overall number of races.......needless to say, they won't be getting any of my money as I'm not travelling more 5+hrs to view one of their races...

Well, thats allegedly to the owner of MidOhio being a dick wanting too much money to host the races(not surprising as this isn't the first time I've heard that claim)
I must be the only person to have applauded when a sanctioning body "killed off" my home race, The Grand Prix of Baltimore. Not because it was an inconvenience or pain to deal with (I actually worked the race) or because of the setting, back drop or attendance (It was a perfect setting, showcased the city on a 3 day holiday weekend and draw 100k+ each year). But because it was, in spite of it's successes attendance wise, terribly run. Organizers never provided a safe course to run on and dodged bullets in terms of a serious on track tragedy and they somehow never made a financial profit in putting on the event. I could go on for hours regarding the issues of that specific race, but I digress. Schedule wise regarding INDY and Tudor, you can't run in May of course and shouldn't want to run in April, June or July as well. Which realistically leaves August and September as weekends to target while keeping events at least two weeks apart. The only slot that fits would be bumping VIR and COTA each back a week and shooting for labor day weekend (not a bad plan sandwiches the summer holiday weekends with marque events at Indy. The issue becomes though having to reschedule with a busy VIR and an incredibly booked COTA. I don't think that F1 would like Tudor to be at COTA 2 weeks before they come to town, nor should Tudor want to be competing for attention with F1 by running there within the same month. Thus Indy loses out. I wouldn't be surprised to see some schedule juggling of Mosport and the Glen allowing for Indy to sneak in before Lime Rock in 2016 though
Lime Rock is back on the schedule! WTF, PC & GTD only? That's like, 22 cars max.

Welcome to the wonderful world of IMSA......

I can believe it. I had an interesting talk with an employee up there over the Indy Car weekend and they said as much.
It is sad, but unless something changes I have bought my last Season Pass for Mid Ohio after 6 years or so.
I'm mostly pissed off that there's no more Baltimore Grand Prix. I don't care if it was horribly run; that was the most fun I've ever had spectating at a motorsports event.
Well I fly down to the Daytona Rolex 24 which is a nice break from the brutal Michigan winters too and live about 45 minutes from Belle Isle so I guess I am OK. The other tracks that they did keep are the cream of the crop, so I might take in a couple of those too. Me personally, no problem.

Hmm, are all the other events on a standalone weekend? Because they were running both Conti & Rolex/IMSA on a Friday before the nationwide and cup nascar races on sat/sun......![](/media/img/icons/smilies/googly-18.png)

Detroit isnt 5 hours away from Summitville, IN - more like 3 tops.
BTW: how is the Indy roadcourse to view? I have been to the speedway event and the sitelines sucked. My wife keeps bugging me to go to the MotoGP there.
I wish they still had Barber on the schedule too.
In response to Yamaha,
I know COTA is teamed with the only WEC event for the Americas. They are running Tudor in the early afternoon and then the WEC in the evening. Should be interesting as it's the first night race there. We get fancy reflector vests to go with our blue corner marshall firesuits for this one. :)
