I planned to take the old stuff off with a sawsall , sand down the steel cross beams and Rustoleum them before putting the boards on.
Pointed screws are almost certainly the wrong thing. You are gonna want stout drill point screws, or bolts.
I used these. They are called reamer Teks. They are designed to go through wood AND steel (but probably need a pilot hole drilled, because your steel frame is gonna be too tough for them)
