A church that I attend occasionally had a Roadmaster Estate wagon donated and I heard that they were going to scrap it. Naturally I told the pastor that I would buy it for the price of scrap so he said I could have it for $225.

The body is in average condition, some surface rust but not really noticeable, the frame looks good as well. The interior is decent with only a few rips on the drivers leather seat and the headliner falling down. Now here is the important part: 230k miles, I have not heard it run but he says that it runs and it looks like the alternator and a/c equipment and other things under the hood are fairly new so it hasn't been totally neglected.

My Mercedes wagon is turning out to a money pit (who would have guessed) and I need another car to drive around for the winter. I am also buying an 89 Mustang 5.0 tomorrow for sure that I could drive in the winter as well. I am buying it for the drivetrain but I could drive it for the winter and part it in the spring.

I also live at home still and I my parents would likely not be thrilled about me having 4 cars at the house at one time.

CLIFFS NOTES: Buy Buick and Mustang and drive Buick in winter or just buy the Mustang and drive that.

Buy it! I paid $350 for my '93 and I LOVE it! Seriously, it has become my favorite of the project side of the fleet. I adore it, and it is a frigging tank. Nearly no amount of snow can stop its colossal might!

It's comfy and torquey and easy as pie to do regular maintenance on. I really, really love mine. Do it!!!

Any Roadmonster is a bubble. I think the box ones were a LeSabre.

I see no loss.

Pay the $225 and get the car home and further evaluate it. If that evaluation proves that the car is a basket case then scrap it for the same exact $225. Sure, you may have some transaction costs like taxes and title but still if you decide to not got through with the car then pull a few key parts (like tail lights, interior trim pieces or other small key items.) Selling these easily moved items on ebay will assure that the car does not cost any real dollars by recouping the tranaction costs while still getting the scap price.

Who was it that used one as a toe pig at the Challenge, one of the Candian teams? They had a great vanity plate referencing the LT1.

Buy Buick, buy trailer, buy Mustang, auto X Mustang. Look cool whole time.

I'd buy it. Driving a Mustang in the winter is just asking for trouble...

Full size wagons can fit 12 people in a pinch, or 9 and 2 kegs. I had one in college.
