Do I need to drain the trans?
Got my hands on a hoist with tilt bar, pulling the trans and engine as one piece, swapping the engine and then putting it all back in. Coolant is drained, engine oil drained, A/C is empty (done at local shop). Header nuts are loose, I do need to start it and pull the fuel pump relay to depressurize the fuel line. Other than electrical connections, what else am I missing?
okay, I need to drain it. M.net is good for something :) Sway bars need to come off as well as the coil packs.
You don't need to drain it if you have a plug for the output. Otherwise it'll drain itself. You don't have to remove the coil packs, really. Or the sways.
Keith- is the plug something that can be bought, or is it a fabbed thing? Hoping to hear that NAPA p/n xxxxx is perfect, though prepared to hear that it's a special service tool.
Pretty standard thing, you can buy plastic ones from auto parts stores. I don't have a part number for you though. Tell them it's for a Toyota :)
