Neighbor has a nice convertible with service records. 107k. It's an auto.
I want to go check it out. What issues would be helpful to look out (for)?

Is it an SE? Then it will have the 2.0 HOT T5 engine from the previous generation, which is much more robust and doesn't have the sludge issues.
I think all convertibles are SE, and all 1999 were t5 engine management vs T7 Look for a red spark plugs cover (called a DI module). T5 is red t7 is black. The t5 motors are more sludge resistant and have better internals. T7s have better heads.
I have a 1999 9-3 challenge car. I've owned it for 2 years or so and gone through most of the systems. Let me know if you have specific questions!
Went to see it, meet at city hall parking lot. Seller was in front of me at a stop sign when I drove over. I got to see a pretty heavy smoke screen as he turned and accelerated.
Car in decent shape but lots of things not working. Cruise control and power mirrors. When I heard an aftermarket alarm chirp, it was the final straw.
Pass.
