it occured to me that I hardly ever see them and other than when they were first introduced, they get very little attention here. Why is that? I think they are nice looking coupes, rear wheel drive, and on paper look pretty good. I've never driven one, so maybe that's the reason. What am I missing?
I was thinking the exact thought a couple weeks ago. any long term results on them?

There are a bunch of them here in Metro Atlanta. Maybe people are afraid of RWD everywhere else unless it has a Mustang on the grille.
I see them daily here in central Indiana.
I see them once or twice a week in the Philly/Wilmington, DE area. I kind of like them
Local dealer has a left over '10 base V6/6spd for $21k. I wish I could afford it.
Most of the ones in MN are packed away from the winter. There IS a few DSM shops in our area working with them, mostly due to the kinship that the 2.0 shares with the mitsu motors everyone knows and loves.

I've only seen 3 of them on the roads since they've come out, one was last night. They are indeed a sharp looking car & sound decent on top of that. I considered looking into them, but for the price of an optioned up one there are better choices.

Hyundai is missing a marketing plan, or at least an effective one. The Genesis is in a crowded market segment, and is no longer the cheapest option.

There's quite a few around here. There is a Gunemetal one in Portland on bigger "flush" wheels with some subtle body mods that just looks the business. Very, very nice. A few autocrossers as well.

As a relative comparison, 22,269 Ford Fusions were sold.

Compared to what the genesis is regularly compared to- 73,716 Mustangs were sold in 2010.
If you ask me, either 1) the car isn't that good for the typical consumer, or 2) Hyundai isn't doing a very good job marketing the car. And it seems like a darned good car.
^ They aren't producng that many yet. THey've had supply problems for the first 8 months from what I'm told by my friend who still works over there. Peopel come in wanting a spewcific GC and they have to order or try to locate it in teh country. Remember, this isn't the high volume car like the Elantra/Sonata. This is thier "niche" market car. They never anticipated it taking off.

I see a reasonable number around here... but then again, I see a fair number of most cars in the Princeton area ($$$) from the mundane to the obscure/exotic.
As far as buying one... I'd rather have a V6/6 spd Mustang.

Good question. Must be like the real estate business... location, location, location. I've never seen more than 2 here on the lot at once, with one exception. There were 4 and 2 had "sold" stickers on them and were getting delivered.
I'm guessing it depends on how well Hyundai's in general are selling in your area. Here they sell fast, but they've had a reputable dealer here for 20 years.
I think it's a marketing thing for sure, and possibly a supply side problem as well in certain areas.
They get good reviews. The last comparo i read on v6 ponycars rated it higher than the v6 camaro and the new 300hp v6 challenger.
Of course, i dont honestly think there's much cross-shopping there. Especially not for the challenger barge thing. So i think its largely a problem of awareness.

I'd take the GCfor one reason: visibility. I feel like I'm driving a tank with the 'stang. The GC feels more open. I wouldnt be buying one to race or track, but as a 20k mile a year DD. So I place a little more emphasis on that than most.

What? Is Hyundai buying Mitsu engines now? What's the details?

A friend owns one. He likes it. Plenty of power, brembo's because his is the track pack, etc. He had a few detail complaints like the heated seats work in a completely odd fashion. Seems that the heat setting on the seats is automatic...and completely random. I quote "They'll be scorching hot one minute, cold the next, and then they oscillate back and forth..." If that's the worst he can say about the car I'd say it can't be all that bad ya know?
I would still take a V6 'Stang over it. 30mpg for 300 hp is pretty awesome.
The Theta(Theta II) was the "world engine" co-developed between Mitsu, Chrysler and Hyundai. The bottom ends are very similar with each corporation developing their own top end.

Head down to the souf side. Skillman had 9 of them on their lot unsold last time i was there.
That's because it's Greenwood..... no one wants to deal with that side of town!
