This is a common thing; you need to lower it or widen it. In this case you are not car off, you'll need to lower it a 1/2 inch.
I race a Datsun 1200 with both SCCA and Vintage organizations. The 1200 suffers from the same issue but it's been lowered 4 inches and the track width increased by 2 inches.
Running on sticky tires I've put the car up on two wheels more than once. While this is mostly down to my agressive driving, the point is it's possible and as time trials rules don't require a full cage the SCCA is erring on the side of caution.
Talk to your local tech inspector and see if lowering the car will allow it to participate.
15mm is such a small difference, I imagine you should be able to get the track wider than the height easily. It would have been nice if the person who wrote that email could have spent an extra 60 seconds to actually try and help you.

I couldn't agree more. I hope that he would have ask me a few questions. I would have been more than happy to answer all of them. I did email him back with a few pictures of the vehicle and a list of the build

I was told to contact national by the event organizer. Specified to use the class my car option. To see what class I would be able to attend

I would talk to your local tech guy as.far as.your being able to run. This is a common occurrence with less common cars.
I run local time trials and end up in the unlimited class because I have a full prep vintage race car.
What mods have you done to the car?
End of the day I'd look at the rules and put your car where you think of best fits.
Did you look at the classing section of the TT website? I remember it being pretty easy to follow to figure out where you land.

I did. It looks like I would be on time trails max 5. I just wanted confirmation from them.
I'm big into fast hiking...never seen these SCCA trails before. Sounds interesting.
Find out who the tech inspector is for the event(s) you want to attend and discuss it with him. My hillclimb/TT stewards interpreted the rule book on a case-by-case basis.
You'll need to log in to post.
