arrrrrgghhhh. I get back in town and take the car for a drive, squealing has gone away but when I make sharp right hand turns it makes the noise that sounds like its a train on tracks. Then when I get to about 45mph I feel a slight vibration from the rear along with a humming noise.

02 wrx wagon - new pads and rotors - lots of anti-seize - paint in my arse.

Wheel bearing.

These cars are notorious for having bad wheel bearings.

Yep, I had the same thing happen. During harder turns (and almost to lock) the bearing play would allow the rotor to touch the caliper bracket. It made all kinds of noise.
Pulled my hair out trying to figure it out.

Yep. Subarus - particularly Impreza/Forester chassis - I think come from the factory needing the right rear wheelbearing.

tires only have 13k on them and seem to be round nor do they seem like nerds from the 50s.

Would the wheel bearing also cause the noise and vibration at speed in these cars? Should I buy a built 5.3 with trans for $2000 to swap into this? lol

Thanks for the help guys.

Ive been out of this maintenance and repair stuff for so long I've forgotten a lot of the little things. I feel like I've just gone full motard and hate the fact that I'm asking questions. The IT world is killing me.

If you need a press for doing the bearings i do not have that. I have hand tools. I have an air compressor and no air tools. (What am i doing with my life?) Have garage. Walmart across the street. Harbor freight about 15-20 mins away and everything else near that. If you cant find someone closer to help im around on sunday.

You'll need to log in to post.
