ok first warm  day in Boston

  • battery charged (yay)
  • car started   eventually and I drove out of garage
  • runs rough.  vacuum lines disconnected.  questionable desmogging
  • carb bowl vent connected to tank vent
  • missing gulp valve,  just cut off and plugged with ab olt on the hose
  • Disconnected charcoal canister
  • vacuum to dizzy disconnected (might have retard)  it is not the original distributor (opus).  the 76  should have a big old box  on the dizzy.  a black box (lucas)  mounted to the fender  wired to both sides of the coil.  figure it out later
  • leaks fuel,  a lot.  may have a stuck float,  or a stuck ??? thing the float uses to close the fuel port
  • mechanical fuel pump
  • bad connection to the fuel port on the carb cut shorter and reclamped / fixed,  but i got new hose

is there an easy way to see if the float or pintle (?) if i disconnect the coil and crank  with the bowl vent tube in a bottle  will it fill with fuel.

Needle and seat assembly, but I would just get a carb rebuild kit. Moss has them for $60. Then, from a reseller (I use lbcarco for 23% off) even cheaper. I'd just do it for peace of mind anyway.

I don't know my way around a 1500, I have a 1275, but yeah, it sounds like you need to tidy up the emissions delete and all air leaks. The 1275 has air injection ports in the head you have to plug. If I recall correctly it's really close to pipe thread and you can get brass plugs from the Lowe's plumbing section. At least if the 1500 is like the 1275 in that regard.

My friend had one and late one night, he spun out on a gravel road and did a soft 1/2 roll into the ditch and it ended up on its top and flattened the wind shield. Somehow he luckily folded up neatly in the seats and to get out he just pushed up and rolled the car off of himself with little extra wear and tear.

I'd get a roll bar.
