The Accord has a badly scratched side window. I had assumed it was just fog on their, or really bad smudges--nope, it looks like someone took sandpaper to it. Not sure why--I haven't tried to put it down yet to listen for any issues.

Anyone ever successfully fix a bad scratch in glass? It is a concern because it obscures my mirror.

I have heard toothpaste works, but have not tried it.

You're going to be there a LOOOOOOOOONG time with toothpaste. Polishing it out is going to require several different processes to get anything resembling clarity back. Likely easier to find a new window at a junkyard.

If the scratch is big enough to catch with your fingernail, it's too big to polish out.

This is correct. I used the Eastwood Kit on a windshield wiper scratch once. Slow going...it worked, but dang. In retrospect, a new windshield would have been a better investment.

For your application, I'm saying the same thing for side glass, which you can get from the you-pull-it for $20 or so and install yourself for less net effort than trying to save it.
