Need more DOHC and 5.4 in P71s
Hrm.. That's a Teskid block, so that's good... but if it's out of a Lincoln, it doesn't have the forged crank that came in the Cobras. It also has crappier heads than a Maruader.
I still fail to understand why Ford didn't just jam the 3v 5.4L or Coyote into the Crown Vic and keep making it.

from the quality of the air intake tube fabrication work, i fear the rest of the stuff you can't see. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
i had that thought too. i'd still rather have my 5.4 variety, but the price is pretty compelling.

Wasn't the 5.4 awfully tall? I've been out of mod motor stuff for a bit, but back when I remember guys putting 5.4 SOHC engines in T-Birds and so on, the intakes were so tall that they created some visibility problems.
My favorite color for those cars!!!!

Because the 'Vic was mainly a fleet vehicle, and could you imagine the howls of protests as the fleets discovered the nightmare of 3v sparkplug issues?

they didn't seem to mind the "blowing plugs thru the hood" problems..
Yeah, but that only takes about an hour per hole to fix, if you're slow yet have the proper tool, and it's generally a PEBWAG (Problem Exists Between Wrench And Ground) as far as I've seen. Incorrect torque on the spark plugs in the first place. I've never seen OE plugs blow out, just replacements.
IIRC, they also never put the 3-valve in vans. I could be wrong, though. (Man, I hope I'm not)
