I'm getting ready to take my 95 miata to my first track day. I knew I had to do some work to pass the broomstick test, but actually sat down and got some measurements tonight and to my dismay I need to go down 2.75 inches to pass! I assumed I could do a foamectormy prior to measuring, and was blown away on how much I needed to go down (I'm only 5'11").
I know flyin miata has a great list of seats that fit, but that doesn't tell me if I can get the needed lowering. what are my options to get almost 3 inches lower than I currently am at?> what seats/rails can I count on to get me clearance?
Sparco Sprint and PCI brackets get pretty low.
Bride Low Max and Garagestar brackets are low too.
I run Cobra Monaco Pros and PCI V1 brackets. I can pass a broomstick but i'm 2" shorter than you, setup isn't quite as low as i'd like.
Anyone else in the 5'11" range with a setup they know works?
I have the hard dog hardtop rollbar

We just dealt with something similar in our chump car. One of my co-driver's head was hitting the roll cage bar. We ended up having to use an aluminum seat and bolt it directly to the floor of the car - no brackets at all. We had to cut out the 2 rear humps where the factory seat mounts to get the floor surface flat. Its low, but he fits now.

I had to do the same thing to my SpecMiata and I'm 5'10", 30" inseam.
Add some padding to the roll bar and slouch down for the test. See, all done! ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)

how tall is he?
Not that tall, like 5'11" ish. We were dealing with the horizontal bar that connects the front and rear hoop, so likely a little lower than the roll bar hoop you're trying to get under.
