I knew that when I took this job I was in serious danger of dragging home some oddball cars. I really tried to get the MK2 Cortina but that didn't pan out. I comfortably passed on a few others like the Lloyd Alexander so why, oh why am I getting this one?

Saturday I am making a 300 mile round trip to drag home a 66 Triumph 2000. It is work related. The boss wants the alloy wheels for the Zink sports racer we are restoring. In his mind the car is just something attached to them for now. I mentioned I thought the car was cool and now it is mine to deal with.

A little research shows that it is indeed kind of cool. The GT6 2 liter straight six motor, fully synchro'ed 4 speed to a pretty standard looking semi trailing arm rear suspension. The look is quirky and that appeals to me a lot.

The rear 3/4 reminds me of the toledo/dolemite and I like those a LOT

The front is delightfully bizzare with the Ferrari 330 style headlights and the odd full length grill underneath. A little mk1 Reliant Scimitar thrown in for good measure.

The first step is getting it on the lift to see if there is enough left to save. Then tune it up, check the hydraulics and see if I would hate driving it. Then decide to part, flip or keep it.

Eager/nervous/excited/terrified right now.

I love it! Never seen one before, hope it's worth keeping! The negative camber on that blue/yellow car is wicked!

Suppose it's worth saving, maybe has a bit a rust. What would your plans be?

That is a fine looking means of conveyance.

Good question. The last thing I want to do is get myself into another project like the Falcon. I still strongly dislike driving that car and am constantly scheming ways to fix it.

If the Triumph is healthy enough to save and I enjoy the driving experience then who knows? Probably just lower it a tad. Some slightly upsized steelies with beauty rings and caps and lower profile tires. I don't know if it needs more power out of the box yet.

Beautiful car. It's just begging for that racing livery of the light blue one in the last pic you posted.

These were quite common in Oz back in the day
