Cool. Just added this to my list.
We did have one subaru that was converted to rwd that was built just for one gag in particular but it worked so well that we used it for the lion's share of the driving. There were a few gags that were built specifically for the awd car as well.
ironically, after beating the rwd up for weeks and weeks, while filming the shot before we did the big one it was made for, a bolt broke in the rear suspension and sent us into the curb pretty hard.
so i ended up doing the reverse 180 drift (in a lot of trailers where the car sneaks right by camera) with the stock awd car. It was a bummer but ended up looking pretty good.

FTFY...great work. Cannot wait to watch
I ABSOLUTELY do NOT actually think this but wouldn't it be funny if jfryjfry was messing with all of us!
(By the way, your screen name reminds me of a specific Bill Cosby standup routine)

I just read a movie review in the newspaper during lunch today; they mentioned this point as well (I'm really tired of the excessive CGI in movies today), plus they gave the movie 4 out of 4 stars.

Now that you mention it, yes.
It's hot out, I'm off work, Janel's not coming home until late, and there's a 4:30 matinee. I'm outta here.
I'm gonna call that a combo of the driving from Ronin mixed with the style of Snatch. Totally my bag. That preview I linked earlier captures the editing pretty well.
Go check it out.
There is a turbo flat four, a Toyota econobox and many V8s in this film. No 300 hp V6s from what I can tell.
Also, do NOT drive anything powerful or with a good stereo to this film.

That sounds awesome.

Well, I broke the mini doing burnouts once, maybe I can break the Nissan doing slides.
Not surprised the avalanche broke the rear end....
I'm not movie guy but we have a cinema gift card. Maybe my wife will use it on this one

Is that what I'm calling the bootlegger turn? Start in reverse, flip it around then keep sliding around a right hand corner? That is a spectacular piece of work, sir.
Every Jackie Chan movie has that one move where you have to pause it and rewind and go "really"? That's the moment for me in Baby Driver. Usually the cars lose a lot of momentum doing that.
Just got back, can confirm -- amazing movie, everyone should go see it ASAP. jfryfry, you're doing the lord's work. Thank you for your service.
We're tentatively scheduled for Just 12th at 9pm eastern to have Jeremy join us on the live show. He's a busy guy but that's sounding about 90% at the moment. We'll update you with any changed as soon as we know. Stoked to get out and see the movie this weekend (even moreso than before). I think it'll be a fascinating convo.
Took advantage of having the day off, went and saw it.
Cool flick, huge variety of cars getting the wheels driven off them.
Great use of sound and music, it's much more than 'just a car movie'
It's 1:00 a.m. my time & I've just come in from watching the movie, and let me say it was awesome. Well at least the car stuff.
I wasn't going to see the movie based upon the trailers. It looked like a dumb concept and what I saw didn't have the best acting.
My daughter has been a producer and director for all kinds of movies & TV shows so I've seen my fair share of "Hollywood magic" so the driving aspect didn't excite me, but once I learned the driving was legit I had to go.
It was great knowing some inside stuff on several of the scenes. The truck & wall scene impressed me as well as the backward driving. Did you use the rear view camera, have another rearview camera installed, or just look over your shoulder? Enquiring minds want to know.
I never watch a movie twice unless it's been years & years since I've seen the movie, but I'm going to see this one again. I've seen the story line (which will surprise you) and now I can just watch the car scenes and look for more glimpses of jfryjfry.
After the end of the first scene my wife looked over at me and said "That was for real??? I'm impressed" and that made her watch the car scenes with a lot more fervor.
Good job!
