I have always used Bilsteins and have been very happy. But my old Saab DD needs new ones and I am on a pocket lint budget. Anybody happy with less expensive dampers?

I've been very happy with KYB's when on a budget. In fact, IIRC, GRM wrote once "KYB's when on a budget and Koni's when ere not".

KYB Gas-a-just shocks are supposed to be pretty good, I don't care for the GR-2 product line though.

i buy in this order;

Sachs Super Touring when i'm on a budget.

KYB when it needs to be nice.

Bilstein if i'm in love.

I know people like them and have had good experiences etc, but i've had bad luck with koni's.

Tenneco? Never heard of them, are they related to Monroe or just another parts store brand? I've never been a huge fan of Monroe, but every time I've bought them they were replacing shocks so hideously blown that I'm pretty sure carving a solid rod out of a 2"x4" would have been an improvement. Kind of hard to gauge improvement when you don't have a proper baseline to start from.

tenneco is just the parent company of monroe
