for a radical swap as such I can't help but favor honda, loads of aftermarket, loads of development work already done by other people, cheap turbo flanges and tuning software are readily available, and they made a metric E36 M3 ton of them so they are bountiful in the scrap yards for spares or donors

You speak of the f22. A great, amazingly reliable motor, that people commonly throw it out for it's big, DOHC brother the h22. There are several variants and some accords came stock with the h22 (I don't think in the US), but the f22 is a dime a dozen and bolts up to the any of the true h/f series transmissions (excluding the s2k "f") They don't mind boost and respond well to it, but can be built strongly for n/a.

Some food for thought.
That motor is just plain tough and makes a fairly porky Accord scoot pretty good, plus it's readily available with a 5 speed. I always wondered how it would do with, say, 850 pounds chopped off of the car.

the h22 was in the USA in the vtec preludes, but come to think of it, I dont think i've seen one in a stock accord like you said
Looks like the F's were around 140HP (depending on the ECU tune) and the H's around 185. Either would make a ~1800 pound Festiva scoot!
