I have an opportunity  to purchase the accessories, accessory mounts, harness and pcm, and exhaust manifolds that I need to get closer to finishing the conversion to a 95 LT1 installation in my 75 Stingray for $500. Seller originally  wanted to sell me the entire longblock with bad head gasket for $575. I have no need for another LT1.  Is $500 fair for the parts?

I am far from an expert, and certainly not in Chevy stuff, but I have done an engine swap.  $500 sounds pretty reasonable to avoid a lot of fiddling, catalog rabbit holes, and parts chasing, assuming you trust the seller to have the right stuff.

seems like a solid deal to me, especially if it has even anything close to "everything you need".

Looking at it another way, $575 sounds reasonable for the whole package including the block, and the seller is prepared to pay YOU 75 bucks to take the lump you don't need, and its bad head gasket, off your hands.  I'd go for it.  (Always assuming these really are the parts you need.)

An LSx is only another $1000 and its a whole lot more engine.

Just saw a 2500 Chevy 2WD with a 6.0/4l80 on craigs for $800.  Ran/drive/spun into a ditch and rusty.

Lone voice of dissent, LT1 swaps were awesome between 1992 and 1996, as soon as the LS came out, that was the end of them.  When i see cars at swap meets with LT1 swaps, you gotta figure the swap was done in the mid 90s.

My boss said it sounds high, he's lt1 swapping a 73 nova. He has 3 motors and they have all been less 300 bucks. He bought a complete running 9c1 parts car for 800.

The difference for my car is the Vette engine has Vette specific accessories and mounts to clear the upper control arms. And my car already has the LT1 in place,  but being it was from a 9c1 I can't reuse some of the stuff from the Caprice.  So I should just take the whole shooting match.  Just dawned on me that the Vette LT1 probably has aluminum heads too. Hmm...

It's not a bad price, for accessories, mounts, pcm, harness and manifolds. Vette heads are aluminum, but your heads flow better on the intake side. Only thing you would gain is less weight, but for $75 dollars more it's not a bad deal. Vette accessories are harder to find than the F-body or big car ones, and they ain't making them anymore.

The corvette got a 4 bolt main block too, i would pay the $75 and take the rest.  Then you’ll have an intake, heads, and block to sell
