I have the money, and the time. If it was a manual I'd do it on principle...the rust doesn't look promising though, what do you guys think? I mean, how about those cloth sport seats?

Nah. E30s are not rare enough to deal with a lot of rust and a Canadian 323 isn't really special. Pass.
With an E30, just find a clean one from down south and pay the $500 to have it hauled north.
$500 in shipping is cheap compared to dealing with those rusted fasteners, let alone body rust...
if you can see that much rust on the trunk and in the pics, there is probably a TON of it in the floors and elsewhere. I'd go with "no."
Plus its an automatic.....
You would want to love it but be so very disappointed with the automatic and rust. Love my E30 but wish I wouldn't have gotten it from Vermont. It's worth taking a drive to get a cleaner car. There are many deals out there and worth the cost of shipping.
Even for the price, a rust free e30 318is is worth this, IMHO. And it has your cloth sport seats. And its closer!
