Saw this yesterday, thought it was a great look

Same rack, different car. I'll be doing some modifications to it to get an extra set of wheels to the track this year.

Here's a blast from the past that my parents just sent me:

Our family hauler for much of my early childhood was a manual Saturn SL fitted with a Yakima rack. If you look closely, you can see a (very young) me in the left rear passenger seat behind my dad.

I really miss Saturn sometimes.

Yikes.  85hp with 4 people in the car and that stuff on the roof.

The other day while walking my dogs I saw an e34 with two kayaks on the roof. They were both on edge and had to have overhung both the front and rear bumper by a foot. They were monstrous and dwarfed the e34 (no small feat). It was almost comical.

Somehow didn't see this the first time through. It's a b5. It's actually a really great car, even with 285k on it. I love it! Just need to get rid of the purple tint. And v10 swap it.

Nope, it was there. It was a rusty replacement out of the parts bin for one that got boogered up. It's since been replaced again. 

B5 s4 that I lifted a little.  Running larger tires with 16" wheels - and my spare is too big for the factory spare wheel well.

Since we're getting into boats...

I used to build these roof racks for rowing-shells.  Sold a couple hundred of them a decade ago.

The horrible flexy factory rack on my old Protege5 was nothing to get excited about.

I added the brush bar so we'd have something to attach the bow line to.

How about this for boat carrying? Ladder pivots for easy load/unload

Mom and I can't understand why our grown children were mortified to ride with us to Rocky Mountain National Park. I had a trailer hitch installed at U-Haul and bought a gooseneck raised hitch rack but after loading it up and stuffing 6 people in the van, we couldn't back out of the driveway. 

Not mine...........but some Porsche goodness.

My daily is a Tesla so I may have a better perception of the Soul since I only drive it when I'm doing activities, but with a 0-60 in about seven seconds and the ability to roast the tires from a stop it's actually kind of fun to drive.  Mine is an automatic that I inherited from my in laws, so I wouldn't have bought it on purpose, but it's surprisingly good for a cheap econo box.  It totally changed my perception of Kia and I would happily buy a new one if I needed it.  I actually recommend one to anyone who asks me about it. YMMV I guess.

Thanks!  It has a 2" lift and oversized wildpeaks.  It's sole purpose in life is to ferry me to mountain bike trails in FL, GA and NC and for that it seems ideally suited.  It's doesn't go off-road per se, but it has no problem doing double track when necessary and for my purposes gets me to the same trailheads as the decked out over landing 4x4's I share the trails with.
