I crawled under a new-to-me car today, and realized the previous owner apparently had an encounter with one of our odiferous friends. It's not horrible outside the car (or inside), but it's pretty potent under the back.
I know tomato juice is an answer for dogs, but any suggestions for the undercarriage of a car?
Higher-end car wash with the undercarriage spray?
Twice.
Going for a drive on a rainy day. Hit some standing water hard and let the spray clean the undercarriage.

anything with a mild acid tendency will do the job.
Go to pet store and buy the de-skunk shampoo. Around here they sell it at selected selected self-spray car washes that have dog cleaning facilities in one bay.
Doesn’t apple cider vinegar cure everything?
It will go away by itself in a week or two. ![laugh laugh](https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/static/ckeditor/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.png)

Add some Dawn dish soap to the mix. Skunk spray is oil based so a degreaser will help get it off the car parts. This recipe works great on dogs.
No real answer to your question but years ago I came upon a freshly killed skunk and it was raining prity good. I was in moderate traffic. The water on the road and spray was full of the skunk smell. It got every where in the car's exterior in the heater as I had the defrost on and under the car. The car stunk. I parked it as far away from my house. I had another car to drive but I checked on that car about a week later and it was much better but still way to stinky to actually drive. I let it sit for 4-5 months before the smell was fully gone.
On a side note I wonder if an insurance company would cover / total a car for that?
Organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Put it in a spray bottle and apply liberally.
People laugh at me for the whole organic thing, but there's something about the enzymes in apple cider vinegar that seem to work best when it's unfiltered and organic.
Much recent experience with skunk smells thanks to our dog. poor little bugger got it right in the face a couple of weeks ago, there was yellow goo all over his face and eyes, they are still weeping two weeks later.

No, it is not. You want Hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dish soap to get skunk smell washed off a dog.

I didn't say tomato juice was a GOOD answer, only that is AN answer that I would expect to hear if I asked about a dog. ;-)
Just remove the catalytic converter, it’ll smell the same.

My husky NEVER got rid of the smell when she killed the one in our yard. Didn't get her, but I'm sure it squee'd a bit when she shook the crap out of it after scruffing it. I'm talking about 4 years later, and give the dog a bath and have to vacate the room she's in. EVERY time she got wet. So I'm not sure what the answer is. And yes, I tried the apple cider vinegar, the peroxide, lemon juice, salt fix, the commercial de-skunk pet wash, jumbo bulk cans of tomato juice and crushed tomatoes. The only time that dog ever barred her teeth at me, was after getting skunked and I went after her after saying "bath time".
