looks like this is the only picture I have of the bike on the rack:

What scooters did you end up with? We need to go up wheel sizes from last year. Sebring was brutal.

A5 Lux... they were on sale earlier this week?  Might still be?

Now the question is did you go with blue, pink or silver for the scooters? Or did you get 1 pink one for the one with the slowest lap of the day?

I think I went with silver/red... but I wouldn't be surprised if three different colors showed up.  I have no issues riding a pink scooter... although that looks much closer to fuchsia than pink.  Which, regardless, I still have no problems riding.

I call dibs on the pink.

EDIT: also trying to requisition a proper refreshment for finishing the event in true Korean style.

I checked out the specs of the A5Lux and it says...

  • Aircraft-grade aluminum t-tube and deck comfortably supports riders up to 220 lbs
  •

I'll personally add about another 20 lbs of dis-comfort to mine. devil  But, that's okay, I'm game!

In reply to John Welsh :

do you think we're dealing with an aircraft design factor of safety, or a tire one?  laugh

Yup, all three are silver and red. I need to see if there's any way to tighten up the steering tube.. there's some fore/aft slop.

Two laps of the coledesac, and no neck breakage... I wonder how long that will holdout?

'k, Bringing florescent orange or pink paint to correct the blandness of these... lol. So sad not a pink one.

so, here's a relevant and critical question:
do I keep, or remove, the warning label on the handlebars?

Need a picture to be sure. My gut feeling is to keep it and then put an addendum next to it.

Does the label mandate the use of a Snell SA2015 or newer?

I'll buy lunch for anyone who rides their scooter down the NCM sinkhole without using the brake. Helmet strongly recommended.

I'll withold my decision on this until the day-of... depending on weather conditions... and any other bodily injuries I've incurred riding one of these at prior tracks cheeky

I'd get a picture... but it wraps too far around to get it in one FOV.

So, car update

The suspension is finally assembled and working... now with the proper balljoints, and new lower control arms.  Which, I'm glad Rob did, because they had to cut the old ones out because one of the rear inner bolts were frozen in place.

Rob's (R&R's owner) a little concerned that the H&R springs "didn't require compression when assembled; and they 'knocking' over road imperfections".  I think the balljoints not being right has Rob a little concerned that other parts aren't spec'd right.  we'll see.

After some alldata reading, and cleaning up the engine bay, they think the oil leak has to do with an oil ring and/or seals from the oilfilter/distribution... thingy.  Which, they think to fix, is going to take another full day of wrenching... since you've got to pull the manifold, and etc etc.  He's not doing that yet, since they aren't seeing any dye yet.  If I don't want to have them put in that labor, there's effectively 3 options:

- Save it, and have Bob and I try to do that when I get out to Indy
- Run "high mileage engine oil"
- apply a high-absorbency feminine hygiene product to the end of the filter

that last one is apparently race proven on a relatives Vintage Racing 356.

Rob's going to tinker on it a bit more, drive it home tonight, and I'll pick it up tomorrow.
