Small World.

I ran into my old Alfetta today. In semi-rural Western Australia of all places. I owned this car a few years ago when I lived in Melbourne, then sold it to a lady who drove it ~1000km home to New South Wales. I later moved to the other side of the country (Perth), and happened to be visiting my parents today, when I spotted the car in a supermarket parking lot, so I loitered around until the owner showed up. Turns out he's recently moved to W.A. from Queensland, and even drove the Alfa about 4000km to get here. I was on my way back from a job interview, and he'd just stopped to buy cigarettes, so it's amazing we bumped into each other at all.

It makes me happy to see this car is still in regular service. Apparently it's been basically completely reliable, too (fouling plugs and rubber donut failures notwithstanding). Anyway, we exchanged numbers. Maybe I'll buy it back .

I don't know Alfas well, but I really can't remember if the Alfetta even made it Stateside.

Yes they did, they rusted horribly though, and were worthless for a long time, and still arent worth as much as most alfas, so not many have survived.

For a 30 something '70's era Alfetta, that's a very, very nice one.

I almost got a sedan a few years ago- offered it here, too- black, eh paint, and terrible interior. But after 30 min of looking, we could not find any rust holes at all. What a deal for $500.

There are a few people in AROC who adore those cars, and even have made some killer track cars.

Anyway, amazing how small the world is, even when you live in very huge Australia
