Perfect if you have a spare set of wheels and a rattle gun honestly. Bizz or hakkas are all I run up here. They both do great on ice and decent in snow. I do see some of the newer designs by other mfgs catching up fast. The wear isn't too bad of you run em only in the cold, its the heat that seems to wipe them clean quickly.
According to the Canadian Tire tests, between the Continental Winter Contact SI, X-Ice and Blizzack for snow they rank: Continental, Blizzack, X-ice and for ice they rank: Blizzack, Continental, X-ice. The X-ice is rated as getting better fuel economy though.
I have been a Blizzak fan for years the WS70 being my favorite. Currently running Haakkkeepelllitttaassss and really like those to. The key is to only run them in the cold.
For a year round tire I like the Nokian WRs, the only real all season tire that I know of other than all terrains.
