Thoughts on this vs. Rotella T6?

Rotella is $12.97 after rebate.

I don’t mind paying a few bucks more at the parts store for their oil change deals VS actually having to step foot inside a Walmart.

we're lucky here in the DC burbs...our Walmarts are pretty small (as are our Targets) and full of upper-middle-class suburbanites. It's almost disappointing to go there and never see any weird people....just organized shelves and fast checkout.

Then on race trips, stopping in rural Super Walmarts.....it's a real experience lol.

This x100. The Walmart near me has one checkout open most of the time. When it was a 24 hour shop I could get in and out at 2 AM, but now it takes 20 minutes to check out. I'll pay more for an item to have the oil change DONE in the time I'd be standing in the checkout line.

Got it. I should get something out to you this week.

As for Walmart, we have 3 within 10 minutes of us. All have the self checkouts that we can be out in under 2 minutes. The one exception was Christmas Eve at 9am it was busy and took 5 minutes to check out.

Since they the one near me has only one register open (to force people into the self-checkouts) there is a huge line at the self-checkouts.

The only time I go to Walmart is when my shopping list looks something like:  motor oil, fishing hooks, socks, a USB cable, hot dogs and some milk.

Amazon is setup to get you hooked on convenience and not be the best price.

As a former amazonian. I see higher prices and less selection coming.  The recent announcement that Amazon was eliminating items it can t make money on or with is a huge divergence from its original ethos.  It breaks the virtuous cycle.

There's a transit time issue in wal mart also.   I need to deal with the traffic getting into parking lot, then I have to park 200 yards from the store, and once I get through the front door the auto parts are another 200 yards away.

At advance auto, there is no traffic going in, I park 10ft from the door, and the oil is 15ft away once I get inside.

At amazon I click a button and it shows up at my house 2 days later.

It was bound to happen.

I wonder if the mission to be “the most customer centric company”, or 14 leadership principles will be updated.

the check out time at Advance is the killer. It takes 5 minutes to find someone to check you out. then 5 minutes for them to take your phone number and look up your name to buy a screw driver.

Image result for virtuous cycle

This is bezo's famous virtuous cycle.. one of the 4 main pillars is selection..  He believed by increasing selection it would lead to a better customer experience..  which will drive traffic which drives more sellers.. etc...

I now see them as eliminating the lower prices loop and the selection group slowly... When does amazon go to stagnation?  https://marketingland.com/shy-of-100mm-survey-finds-amazon-prime-membership-growth-has-flattened-in-us-250147

I'd say it's close..  Prime growth has stalled.  Prime account growth was the #1 cited statistic that used to make the stock go wild.  Now it will be about retention.

I can understand why prime has slowed.

As they’ve reduced content included and shifted it to premium services (like music unlimited) Prime loses some of the appeal if you don’t take advantage of the shipping.

I prefer the oil change deals at the parts store. I figure out which store has which brand on sale, call that store and ask them to pull the proper filter and I'll be there in ten.

Which reminds me the TrailBlazer is overdue for a change.
