So, here's what I did last night and why I love Porsche of Wallingford...

Last night, I went to a PCA meeting at Porsche of Wallingford. My father has been visiting from Florida, and I brought him along as my guest. We ate dinner, met some great people and looked at bunch of Porsches, some new, some old.

At the end of the meeting, they always raffle off a few door prizes. My father's ticket was drawn and he won a Genuine Porsche key chain. I was happy for him, not because he owns a Porsche (he doesn't), but because he's a nice old guy and has a lot of keys. He deserves a nice key chain. We were very happy.

On the way home, I got a call from my wife, who was in a panic because we had a bat flying around in the kitchen. I got home and caught and released the bat in about ten minutes.

I still had to give my father a ride back to the place where he is staying. On the way, I came nose to nose with a wrong way driver. Close call, but fortunately no contact.

On the drive home after dropping him off, I had to lock up the brakes to avoid hitting a possum who was turning donuts in the road.

Oh, and I almost forgot, my ticket was drawn for the last door prize of the night at the PCA meeting: the use of a new Porsche for the long weekend of my choice...

I'll take a 991 GT3 during an AX/HPDE double header for $100 please, Alex.

Dad got a key chain, you got the use of a new Porsche for a weekend, and you didn't trade with the old man? you may be the worst. son. ever.

A Mom was killed and her two kids were injured as Dad looked on from another vehicle while a drunk plowed through them going the wrong way on the highway a few days ago over here, so I am glad to hear that you missed the wrong way driver.

I don't mean to diminish the coolness of your prize, but damn, missing that accident is the best part.

Any new Porsche huh? The 918 is coming out soon...

I mean, he probably couldn't grab dad and let him drive it on the weekend he has it?

Dad's headed back to Florida this weekend. And he's more of a Mercury guy anyway. I tried to get him to drive the Cayman to the meeting but he declined, citing his recent stroke. He has offered me the key chain several times, but I insisted that he keep it, and use it, to remember the fun evening that we spent together.

He also helped me capture the bat.

That's a nice prize! I once won a similar thing from Mercedes Benz in the 80s. The only problem then was, there was nothing worth driving from MB. A modern Porsche will be extra sweet.

My most recent Porsche dealer experience was driving past a well known (Racing Outfit) dealer in Jacksonville, FL. As I was driving by there was 50-60 year old gentleman that was well dressed holding up a sign. This stood out as usually sign holders are stumbling meth heads with signs that say "Cash 4 Gold".

The sign read "Total engine failure at 34,000 miles. Denied under warranty". Made me chuckle.
