Its not currently running, but is a contender for a rebuilt engine. It has the 6 speed transmission in it. Maybe a d16z6 swap as well in the future. A 1985 crx si complete engine are coming with it.
I was initially thinking a rally-x car, but its really too nice. Everything is there, the seats and interior are in excellent shape, no rust underneath, rust on only 1 wheel arch, and that is minimal. I'll post pictures once I get it home, the seller is a really nice guy, a die hard that has too many projects for himself. I'm sure most of you can relate.
Andrew
good luck with it....
the too nice bit, reminds me of my little All-Trac Corolla I picked up in March, too nice to beat the tar out of..
I bet this car is white or maybe cream colored? Saw it on CL not too long ago.
Have fun with it!
Time to drag out the ever popular wagon attack video again!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7ZzqBPz4sY
it is light blue, it was on cl a week or so ago. Now I just need to get the car back to my house, as all the uhaul places were closed today, atleast the ones out near the car in gilbertsville...

might be a bit of a poor idea, but also could be very fun if done right. lock up the viscous diff in the real-time AWD transfer box, and then pull the front half-shafts. transverse engine, front engine, RWD Honda Civic wagon. put a quick enough engine into it, and that could be one FUN little car

That would have a what, 65-35 weight distribution? You could powerslide with like 50 hp. I say go for it.

sounds fun, but I would bet after enough hooning about, the transfer case/diff would barf out the important bits like a bulimic with food poisoning.
Yeah, the rwd thing has already been done. I'm returning it to stock, replacing bushings and getting the top end rebuilt. I want a reliable winter runner.

You just answered your own question. Get it reliable, tight, heat working, etc.. and enjoy. A 25hp shot of nitrious would help with those snow drifts, though.

I'm stealing this part for future use. Thanks!

Yeah, I initially got the car to flip and play with. But after realizing the rarity of these cars, I'm now thinking about just keeping in and restoring it to a slightly better state then my just flip the car state. I don't think it'll ever be worth more then $1k, so it'll not be done for the money of it. I'll keep on the lookout for something else to screw with. That doesn't mean that this vehicle won't be seeing a rally-x or two, but is too top heavy for dedicated use.
On a side note though, gladly this honda is the only one I've ever sat in that I didn't hit my head on. I'm 6'4" and have atleast 3" to spare above my head, the seats are upright and damn comfortable as well. I wish honda had sold more of them.
Andrew
That is begging for the DIYSLY (whatever) Dave "turbo treatment". Wagon Attack, indeed.

Sounds like a good plan.
While attending a SOLO I event at Bridgehampton eons ago, there was a guy running a Toyota Landcruiser! Hard top, tall tires. Talk about top heavy, but Lots of fun to watch.
Glad to hear you got it! I regretted selling my 91 FWD wagon, and only sold my 89 RT4WD because the auto tranny started to skip 2nd gear.
You don't see many of these around anymore. Even fewer of the earlier ones like yours. Enjoy!
Those things sell for like $3500+ in california if they arent rusty.
If i figure out where my camera is, I'll take pics. There is only rust around the back wheel wells, only on the outside, and hasn't gone through the back 1/4 panel skin. That coupled with the fact that the car is unmolested is why I need to not beat the $hit out of it. Its just too nice of a car not to treat it nicely.
From reading online, the only real performance potential of these btw, is swapping in a d16z6. Problem being I would have to change the gas tank and update the whole car. Which might be easier then dealing with the smog that is currently on it. The '85 crx si motor that came as part of the deal I most likely will sell, they seem to go for $300, meaning I would then only have $100 in the car total.
Its does need a respray, but I don't think I'll have the fundage for a total respray. Piecemeal seems the way to go though, for me, and for now anyway.
I only have one as of now, I cannot find my camera. I'll have to borrow my fiancee's phone for more pics. This one includes me sweating my @ss off in 102 degree weather last wednesday.

Gotta love the civic wagons.
Don't know if you know about it, but:
http://www.hondacivicwagon.com/
is a great resource for these cars.
Good luck, and have fun.

Doesn't work. They put different final drive ratios in the front and rear differentials. The words PUKE and METAL HUNKS come to mind, arrange them as you wish

I already found them, and they've got lots of information if you happen to own a 88-91 wagon, but don't have much for my 3rd gen civic wagon. redpepperracing.com is the goto place for 3rd gen civics and 1st gen crx's. Though they aren't that fast to respond, and they're aren't many people on there with the wagon either, maybe 10 in the entire forum, so yeah, rare car.
nice i have a 91 2wd myself and i'm fixing the mistakes the p.o. made and trying to make it a cool ,useful , decently fast dd...i want to see where this goes
