Posting from my phone but I put my money where my mouth is and bought a R8. Will post pictures when it gets back from the dealer inspection which is the last thing that has to happen. Details to follow but it was the best all round car I have ever driven. It's not the fastest thing in the world but man does the thing have a soul.
Most expensive car I have ever bought for myself and not for resale, kind of amped up
I was just talking to a buddy about those today. We both came to the conclusion that we really like them.
Whaaaaaaat????
Awesome! Definitely jealous. That is a car I want to own one day.
By what little you've said I imagine this is a V8 car?

Not even going to tease us with the color combo?
Daytona grey. All options except carbon interior. So Bo stereo, manual transmission, full extended napa leather. Sued roof, luggage, cover, navigation, parking sensors. Tinted wheels 13k miles
I went v8, I could have gotten a v10 but no lie I like the v8 balance and sound better.
Damn man, that's awesome.
Hopefully this will work
It goes in for inspection tomorrow but all the paperwork is fine. I just want Audi to take a look at it and make sure that the shocks are in good shape as they are the biggest wear issue and that the car has not been hit.
I was able to find a few older photos of the car and they all show the car as clean and unhit. It was never sold through them, traded off on a new TA viper.
Say, you live in SoCal right? Once I get my car in the state, how about we switch for a day?
Just kidding, but I would like to meet the GRM CA Contingent.

Nice!
I usually put my foot where my mouth is...
Congrats, that's been on your list for a while. The R8 seems to be the second coming of the NSX (supercar you can drive everday), but with much more power. Enjoy!
Me likey ^^^^
Awesome - congrats on the new ride.

That's my favorite color combo! Very nice.
Totally jealous. Awesome buy. The R8 is my current favorite Super car.
My hotel in Germany is where people stay when they pick up their new Audi R8 from the Forum in Neckarsulm. I can walk down the road and watch the R8s coming out of the factory. (they are all wrapped in plastic of course.)
IMHO, It is the modern NSX, in that, it is not the most exotic or the fastest on paper, but for real-world use it is the absolute best supercar made.

I was wondering when you were gonna tell. Welcome to the club
You're right though, needs the CF blades. You might want to look into getting the blades painted body color. I've seen it on that color and it changes the look of the car.
Body color to me looks better then CF but I have some 3M CF wrap leftover from another car that I will try out on the car in the short term. I am kind of stretched out on this for the next few months so real CF is out for a bit. Between buying down the house and fed/state taxes and this car I have spent a god awful amount on money in the last month. Wife is much happier with this then the NSX though or another Ferrari.
Did not want to jinks the sale but it looks like its a done deal now other then inspection. I drove over 500 miles yesterday to look at 5 of them and found one ~6 miles from the house in basically exactly the spec I wanted. I was 100% certain I wanted the V10 until I drove it. I really wanted a black/black/black V10 car but when I actually got to see it in person it was a bit underwhelming. Looked less grown up as well, cool if your 25 year old dot com guy but not if your me.
The 4.2 just rev's like a monster and the manual changes the whole feel of the car. I have a small payment on this one which is not the end of the world but something I do not like to do, but 2.49% interest for 60 months makes it bearable. 8.2K in tax though which is just a killer as I am keeping the car for myself.
Car needs a exhaust though, coming from my Vipers and everything else seems quiet. Also need to get a DE in I have not had a a mid engine car in a long time and I need to get my bearings back.
Yay, that was my choice from the thread a month back. Have fun with it!
Beautiful. Congrats! On my next business trip to SoSoCal, I would love to meet up.
I am pretty darn stoked. I am going to take the day off, provided my boss is cool with it, and see if I can get the inspection done this morning and take it up Palomar mountain road.
Could not sleep last night and it not like I am going to get any work done today waiting for it anyway.

WTF is the tax rate out there????

None of the aftermarket exhausts change the sound enough to justify the $6k cost.
LOL it could make the car sound like an SLS AMG, add 100hp and give free BJs and it still wouldn't justify a $6k cost!
Did you unload the Prowler and Viper? I'd love to hear some more thoughts about the R8 once you have more seat time since you've had so many interesting cars.
Super, super stoked for you! My one occasion behind the wheel of an R8 left me wanting lots more

Everything is gone, Mustang, Viper, Truck, JCW, 51 Ford, Prowler, 27 Body, two complete rebuilt flatheads, three crashbox's, all the parts I had been saving to do another 32', moma's milk money all of it. The R8 will be my only car.
Mind you I put 200K down on the house to buy it to 50% LTV which was what my wife wanted and the conditions for me getting another exotic.
And yes 8.0% sales tax on a used car in the peoples republic of California up to 9.725% in LA. also I ordered custom plates and tags for the next year.
I pay more in Federal/State/Car taxes then I spend actually living my life. Everything extra goes to investments.
