It's a major pain to find an unmolested example of the 8 or 9, but there are still new Evo X's on dealer lots (2015) with some markdown if the X interests you at all. Around here, 8's and 9's with ~60k miles are $25k cars, when a new X GSR is $35k from the dealer lot. "return to stock" seems to be a thing in the Evo community, where previous owner will put on "full stage bolt-ons," tune for max AWHP, beat on car, then put stock intake/exhaust, etc. back on car and sell as "all stock."
I know it's a bigger car, different engine, etc. The USDM 8 and 9 IIRC never got the AYC technology like all other markets did, whereas the X gets all the goodies. Previous owner anxiety is what sold me on the X.
