It's fate is in the air right now. While part of me agrees it needs to be finished. I need the straight body for my daily rebuild. so like I said, its in the air. Currently it is back home in gainesville where it started.
I really seriously considered that car for the longest time and then I ended up with Yugos.... Something is wrong with me. I would love to see it finished.
Im new. You've peaked my curiosity. What is the story on this diesel Miata? What engine? Whats its current state?
5cyl Benz td auto trans, mounted turns over belches big clouds of smoke. Was frozen a week ago from sitting. Got it freed up and turning over nicely now. I think we have the drive shaft sorted so have to get the fuel system sorted, dash back together and a seat mounted. Oh and figure out the hood situation. Benz motor is a bit longer/taller than your avg miata motor.
It's a project that has been floating around among GRMers for a couple of years.
The Gainesville gang stuffed a 300D from a Mercedes Benz into the front of a Miata. Well, almost. It will need a hood scoop of sizable proportions.
Anyway, I bought it not finished with the motor in place. Best of intentions....
I never got to it. It sat in my yard for a couple of years.
Spinout007 was part of the original asylum that conceived the poor little abomination, err...
It has now gone full circle back to it's roots, but his real need is a clean Miata body, so it's future fate is unknown. He may remove the diesel.
Unless, someone makes it worth his while!
And there are MANY of us who would like to see that car finished. The concept of a little sports car doing massive smokey black turbo diesel burnouts is enough to....
...excuse me...

Eiata, Ethiata, Diata. THAT is the GRM trifecta.
Oh good grief! You guys didn't notice the oil bath the S-10 was taking? It's in the beginning of the video, and you don't seem to notice until the end!
We might have mistakenly assumed the little tiny line on the oil filter can without a hose on it was vacuum when it really was an oil line. An oil line that got pressure any time you quit cranking. We quit cranking a lot.
I hadn't worked on a car in the pouring rain in years. Made me miss camping (and decide a poncho needs to be added to my toolbox).
I just watched the video. That prob happened when the starter stuck a few minutes prior. And it was pouring outside. Lots of thunder. Wait I prob need to shut up now. :D
