Funny how things work out. TLDR version:
- I buy miata for gf. It's an automatic as requested.
- Gf says the words 'I kinda actually think a stick would be fun"
- Photos below.
Long Version:
Over the winter I picked up an $800 NA that popped up locally. Nothing amazing, a '96 automatic with a bad top. I put off fixing it for months, then finally got it on the road and legal 2 weeks ago. The GF drove it some, but honestly I could tell she didn't love it. I was a little frustrated as I had spent some money and time on it and with no happiness.
Then funny thing happened. She said 'you know, I kinda feel like driving a small little sports car it should be bright red and stickshift.'
2 days later: BAM. I'm good.
Buying process was total hell. Some detailer was selling it for a customer and the guy was HYPER paranoid. To the point where I had spent almost 2 hours on the phone with him and he still wouldn't give me the address his shop (hello, I know how to google your number). Once I got there, he forced me to drive BACK to PA with the the title, bring a plate, then take copies of my new registration before he'd give me the keys. But for $2800.... hard to argue. Spent all day running around in it yesterday, she didn't stall it once!
This kills 3 birds:
1) Can sell the stupid automatic miata
2) Can share a great street miata (swapping all the stuff to it from my yellow one)
3) Can finally strip the AC, PS, soft top, etc etc out of my yellow car. It's already begun!
Bonus points for my street view now...
