Sigh, I need to stay off Craigslist.
52 Plymouth Cranbrook. Flood car. $1000/offer. Had to go look, thought my dad might want it and if not I had friends looking for something like this to take on Asphault Adventures trips.
Was a restored car that went under water in the hurricane. Engine and trans had been pickled so they are full of oil, no water and still move freely. Everything has dried out nice and she mostly just needs a clean and polish and the electrical system gone through. Seller already rebuilt the starter since it was underwater.
Gave him $1000 which included delivery to my house. Would really like to keep it for myself, but no time for projects and my friends will put it to very good use as they always run for charity and raise great amounts of money for kids charities on the events. This will be a great showpiece for them.
That was $1k?? Thats a good deal. It cant be that much wiring to go through on that car. Good find!!

Actually $900 plus $100 for the tow truck.
Very little wiring, whole new harness is $100, discussing converting to 12v as long as we are going through it (going to help them get it running at my place so he can drive it back to GA next spring) He does consulting work up in NJ so he's up here often and we can work on it with his clients paying for the travel
The first car I ever drove was Dodge's version of that car. FH 6 with fluid drive, 3speed on the column. The engine was so quiet you could hardly hear it run.
All the rust streaks. Lol. Still great deal. Love those old plymouths. Buddy has a superdelux 2 door coupe.

Actually no rust streaking, any discoloration is just mud residue easily wipes off. Once it gets here and I get a chance to clean and polish a bit I'll throw up some more photos. Should be here by the weekend.

If it was blue it would look exactly like the first car I can remember my father having. I spent 5 years and many miles in the back seat of that car as we would make a weekend trip from Pittsburgh to Baltimore and back twice a month.
Nice! If you're youngish and only know the feel of Civic and Minivans, this is a unique means of travel.
Nice ride.

Having piloted a 50 Studebaker for a long time I will concur. Not necessarily a better means of travel, but unique.

Is it 6V?
yep, good old 6v positive ground. Debating with the my buddy if we are to convert it or not. I'd rather get it running with what's there then decide then add too many variables to the mix.
Pretty, but when I look a it, my wife says i for me.
I think I have a starter for that engine .....
That's awesome! I'd love to pick up something like that to tinker with one day.. I wouldn't be able to pass up a deal like that, either.

I'll build thread what I do to it, but it's not staying with me, it's heading to a team who will run it in some of our yet undetermined southeast Asphault Adventures events. But it should be at my place over the winter getting it cleaned up and running so when that starts to happen I'll post up info.
I know early 50s car prices are funny like that, but $1000 for that? Are you SURE you didn't show up with a 12 gauge?

My only guess is they got an insurance payout for the flood and were just willing to let it go. Or they just really didn't know what they had.
It was at the guys shop (mower repair) and he was out so the workers showed me to the car. I was pretty sold on it when the seller came back, walked up and jokingly said "I can put it on the trailer and follow you home" I told him if he was serious I'd take it. He's decided to have a buddy with a rollback come move it instead but same result, I'm happy :)
I think that car is destined for Crash and Burn.
