2005 4x4 F-150. Trying to find anything beyond "here, use these quick-struts" is next to impossible. Every Youtube video and F150 forum answer has nothing on the struts themselves. I want to make my own quick-struts. I have junk yard struts. I'm going to scavenge the springs off them. I want new hardware for the rest. What I can gather second hand and from tiny online pictures, is I need the rubber spring isolators, the top mounts, the dust boot, and the bumpstops ( I assume the Bilsteins don't have them already.) I see the word bearing used in kits including everything I just mentioned. Trying to find an exploded diagram, or , hell a simple answer on the internet is seemingly impossible. I've sourced this from RockAuto, which includes the mystery bearings :

Is this Sachs kit all I need? RockAuto has them for $38 a piece? Can I do better, or is this adequate?

I think there is a bearing in the top of the strut mount that allows it to pivot.  I ended up using quickstruts on the Focus and two year later they are about dead.  I guess you can get Bilstein dampeners then reuse springs and new top mount stuff, but I was lazy.

There's no bearing. It's just the rubber bushing in the middle of that top hat. No pivoting required since the strut goes to the lower control arm, not some steered part.
