My MIL has a white 2016 Sienna and the poor thing has been through the ringer. Between my wife, my BIL and my nephew, it has torn up front and rear bumper covers, driver's sliding door, front pass side view mirror, and probably a couple other trim pieces here and there. Looking on car-part.com I can find those things piecemeal but is there a good source for like a whole vehicle that I can use for body parts and then discard? Like ones with bad engines or something? It's white so a gov't site should be feasible, right? Or is there another better way to do this? I think it's 2011-2017 for interchange, FWIW.
Any u-pull junkyards nearby?
Through car-part you might be looking at the following prices.
- $300 front bumper assembly
- $300 rear bumper assembly
- $300 rear (side) door
- $300 misc or price over run
- $1200 total
With that said, I don't think you can buy an entire, non running, less than 10 year old Toyota that can be harvested, for less. Further more, it would have to be one van that was not hit in the front and not hit in the rear and not hit in the driver's side. That pretty much just leaves passenger side damage. I feel confident a wrecked, recent van like that will still command $5k due to its rebuild able nature.
Your best bet is probably car-part. You will likely have to source from multiple vehicles. Try to seek out color correct parts. Even if you drive 4 hours to get the right color, you'll have less time invested than prep/paint to get to the correct color.
JYs will be sure to list the big parts like bumper assembly. If you find a white one, call them and ask about the other parts that they might not have taken the time to list. As for condition, I've had JYs text me over pictures of the parts. If you buy more than one part form a JY, try to negotiate a quantity discount (the industry works that way.)

Good call on the math. I mean, there could be a 2011 out there, but probably not. And yeah, I'm not into painting parts!
Obsolete, sadly I'm in a pretty small city
As for finding the correct color... I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota changed the exact white color over the years. To be sure, check your color code on your tag and ask your JY for a picture of the cars same tag.
In Toyota-speak, the C is color code. It will always be 3 characters, alpha numeric.
Being in the body shop side of things all I can offer you is "Good luck". The used parts supply is almost dried up.
In reply to bobzilla :
Really? I would have thought the supply would always be there given how many car accidents there are. Is demand just outstripping supply, or has it stopped being economical for people to part out stuff like that? Doesn't bode well for future unusual parts supply if all that stuff is sent straight to the crusher now.
Came in to sell hooker parts. Looks like I'm on the wrong forum.

Problem is cars that should be totaled out, are being fixed and the insurance companies run (ruined) the business. Which means a LOT of cars are being fixed with used parts instead of new. And sometimes that requires 2-3 times being sent a part before you get an acceptable one. There is a lot more to it than that, but thats the fast down and dirty version.
Couple that with more people keeping their cars on the road longer. 60-90k for a new pickup? No thanks, I'll just keep this one going longer, as even used ones are 25-40k for high mileage ones.. and so on and so forth. IF you can even get one.
And a lot of the easily repaired ones being sold at auction I've noticed have gone to foreign bidders. My assumption is they're buying up parts and shipping the lot over seas and fixing them there, as its still way cheaper than buying one over there.
It's a complicated situation... the last few years have wreaked havoc on the industry as a whole.

Sorry to the OP, but every time I come here and see this thread tittle, I see Jeffrey Dahmer walking down the super market aisle with a cart and a shopping list.

yep. All of this and more. the lack of new parts availability made people and shops turn to used as an option. Currently I have about a 20% success rate on used parts. 1 in 5 good, usable parts. The rest shouldhave been scrapped when the car hit the yard. But there aren't that any cars hitting the yards. We are fixing 15 year old, 180k mile civics with $7k in damage if that tells you anything. 2 years ago that car wasn't worth $5k.

After the blood search I assumed the same.

In my soul I support this move. Trashing used cars for simple maintenance needs has long bothered me. A lot of work goes into making a car.
It's rather inconvenient for me at this point in time, however.

When I go to car-part for a 2016 Sienna Front Bumper Assy, I am confronted with these trim choices. Which is yours?
front park assist, adaptive cruise
front park assist, w/o adaptive cruise
w/o front park assist; Base
w/o front park assist; L model
w/o front park assist; LE
w/o front park assist; SE Premium
w/o front park assist; SE
w/o front park assist; XLE Premium
w/o front park assist; XLE
Rear Bumper Assy gives these choices:
park assist
w/o park assist; oblong reflectors
w/o park assist; round reflectors (SE)
Asking $300 just north of South Bend, IN but in Michigan. Probably 2 hours away for you.
August Pohl Auto Parts
468 West Ferry Street
Berrien Springs, MI 49103
If me, I'd call and say, "I don't need the metal, just the plastic. Its a little rough and missing black fog light plate, would you take $200?"
Try to verify the color code with them. The second picture almost makes this bumper look like it might be pearl white, not refrigerator white.

Check the backside of that bumper and the upper mounting point. Where it's been bumped those are usually trashed and won't fit for E36 M3. The fog light plate mounted are probably ripped out from the back side. Just went through this in the wife's car. They are made for about one bump and they're done.
Asking $250 for rear bumper assy in Detroit proper near the Detroit City Airport (in D-hood.) Probably 1.5 hours from you.
No picture given but this other Detroit JY has the following listed:
2011
Rear Door Assembly
Toyota Sienna LH, power sliding, (privacy tint glass),WHITE EXT,PWR WND,TINTED GLASS,PWR LOCK
Asking $500 and less than 5 miles from the other Detroit JY with rear bumper.
Ask either Detroit JY if they have a passenger door mirror. They might not have listed it on car-part. Seems that upper trim Siennas come with colored mirrors and lower trims come with just black mirrors. Consider either. It will look correct on the car in either color and it is rare that you see both mirrors at the same time so most people wont notice.
