I was cleaning out my garage and ran across my old AutoPro three layer Nomex driving suit. It's rated SFI 3-2A/5. I'm not current on rules regarding suits but can these still be used? Purchased back in 97 or so but only used 10 times or so til I got a 2 layer that was cooler. If not for driver maybe refuelers?

Black with off white chest band. Red piping. One piece...elastic cuffs. Size XL.

If it is still useable? FREE to Lemons or other budget race team. Otherwise I'm throwing it away or giving it to somebody for a Halloween costume.

I know for the series I am running (Canadian Association of Rallysport - CARS), suits don't age out. As long as they are in good condition, they can be used.

Lemons does not care about suit age. Please don't throw it out! If nobody here wants it I could post it on the Lemons forum for you.

Just texted brotber Dallas about it. He was planning to buy or borrow mine. We're hust autocross/hpde, so expired is far better than t shirt and jeans.

Duster, it's yours if you want it or your brother wants it. No rips or tears or stains. Faded slightly on one leg from probably washing it but not really noticeable. Hey and at least he won't look like a total newbie when he shows up to the track with a broken in suit. LOL

As I said it's an extra large and was comfortable when I was wearing it. I'm 6-1 and at the time weighed about 220. It's just that it was a 3-layer and racing down south was hot in the summer in a black three layer.

I did some research after I posted and it seems that as long as it has a SFI tag on it and it's in decent condition it doesn't expire

I don't believe the SCCA cares about age. Condition, on the other hand is important.

If Duster and associates don't want it I'd be interested. I'm a taller guy in the market for a suit to use for future Chumpcar shenanigans.

Packed and going to P.O. today. Although it's clean it may smell a little musty from hanging in garage closet. I tossed it in the dryer with dryer sheets to try to knock off some of the stale smell. Since it's Nomex you can wash it in the washing machine.

Hope it fits. If not donate it to someone who can use it.

Hopefully it's not bad karma. But I've totalled two race cars wearing this suit. One straight into the concrete wall at Grant's Tomb in Memphis. The other a barrel roll down the bridge turn at Road Atlanta. One broken leg, two broken collarbones. On the other hand I was wearing it when I made my first Podium finish at Texas world.

How tall is your brother?
