Count them, PACC has taken this award 4 times including the last 2 events. PACC Racing as a team, own this award, and deservedly so, their creations are so amazing that their cast off cars are in high demand by other teams.
If you ever get a chance to go over one of their cars in person do so, they are incredible.
Would you mind clarifying/defining "PACC"?
Thanks!

It's the Nelson crew, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure what it stands for.
Sounds like an idea for a GRM article.

Ah...got it now, thanks! I met P&A several years back on their way through town for Drag Week or such.

... and for anyone that only knows them online, Andrew is Wheels777, and Calvin is the V8Kid.
Great folks!
So is it time to rename it the Nelson (PACC) Engineering award and have them choose winners from now on?

No. This award was called the Garrett Jenkins (aka Swarf) Memorial Best Engineering Award. I don't have a lot of awards that stand out with huge personal meaning. Frankly, most trophies have been converted into air cleaner studs. But receiving the Best Engineered Award in 2006 from Garrett's Mother is one of the single most appreciated trophies in 38 years of being involved with racing.
For you folks who have not been involved in the Challenge for a long time Phil Kimes, Bill Gotwalt, Garrett Jenkins and Jon Haas were all characters who made the event better. I can only hope that if after a decade of being absent folks would remember what I did on and off the track with such favor and appreciation.
Steve, thanks for the thread. All 4 have meant a lot to us. But, the last two were super special for obvious reasons.
Sorry, no offense intended. I did not know it was already memorialized.

No offense taken or given. The trophy names disappeared a few years ago and I wanted to mention it to the GRM folks.
