wood strip flooring?
Actually for a car used near the beach or in generally dirty or wet conditions that is not a bad idea and or it keeps you feet off of the cold steel floor. I actually like it. A very smart idea in my book. Then again i liked the AMC pacer and the Pontiac aztek when they came out so what do I know

I don't see any cold steel under the wood, just bare concrete. I could be wrong...but if I'm not, beach sand might be a bit of a problem.

You, sir, are wise. I also like the aztek. I have some particularly bad ideas....waiting a few more years before they are challenge priced.
That was a period option on the Volkswagen Thing. you can easily lift them out and clean up the bare steel floor.

I don't think that's concrete - I think it's the floor pan, corrugated with lateral ribs running side to side. The wood slats sit on top of that, which is a great idea for a beach car or mudder.
The wood racks would allow the floor to dry out quicker. The standard rubber mats would trap moisture next the floor and it didn't take long for the rust to appear. I wanted one back in the day, complete with the optional bolt-on hardtop.

They're called duckboards.
Boy, I don't need any ideas to F up my daily beater Legacy any more, but this thread has me thinking.
I've wanted to do this to my wife's TL trunk but with bamboo, kinda related... ish,but i've got an oem rubber mat in there...
Hmm I actually bought an odd lot of Bruce Hardwood flooring from Lowes/Depot a few years back in hopes of doing the trunk/hatch area of my bug maybe even the whole floor. Now I just need to find the time to do it.
For floorboards I think it rawks, particularly in the Beelte/Thing application. You better like your stuff sliding around in your truck if you do it there...
