...and with the Spit frame, I'm surprised someone hasn't done something like this more often...

not the prettiest of Kits.. especially not compared to the original car.. but a good option

A couple of years ago I contacted the company regarding their "kit" for the Spitfire. At that time the only kit available was for right hand drive Spits. I asked about the possibilty of a left hand drive version but they stated that they weren't interested in doing a lefty version.

The cost of getting them to the states may be prohibitive.
Or we could just blame it on the lawyers.

Yeah the shipping could/would possibly cost as much as the kit. I orderd some fiberglass parts to finish my LeMans bonnet and the freight was as much as the parts.
