To make a long story short. When I was young my dad founded NICO Club (Nissan Infiniti Car Owners Club)
This was in the midst of the Internet forum boom and things took off like wild fire to say the least. It grew far beyond what my dad could handle and he gave the keys to the NICO Kingdom to a family friend named Greg Who has run Nico ever since.
I grew up loving Nissans Datsuns and Infinitis. In fact I still love them to this day. I always wanted a B13 SE-R so I got one and that thrust me into the FWD SR20 Community. These are such great little cars and still have a HUGE following to this day. But the SR20 National Convention slowly lost its luster and hit rock bottom last year in Texas when less than 20 people showed up for the event.
A buddy of mine was task with putting on the convention this year in Gainesville. He knew that I worked at a Road Course near Gainesville FL as a driving instructor and that I have a lot of experience handling events, admin, and marketing. I got wrangled into it and man was it a success. It was the largest SR20 National Convention of all time. We had drag Racing, a Car show, Road Course day and Arm Drop drag racing. It was a true pleasure to have hundreds of people make the trip for the event. I hope you enjoy the pictures. For more info you can can check out the discussion page on facebook: SR2018 Group

Fastest All motor SR20 all the way from NY
RHD Primera imported from Canada. The owner drove it from Washington State to Gainesville then to Key West then back to Washington.... That's right there.
Hey! Cool! Tell your dad “thank you”! I cut my teeth on that website. Learned much about nissans. Went from owning a nx2000, then “graduated” to a few s13’s. Finally got the Datsun bug and owned a few s30 and s130’s, and finally a four nickel and dime. And through it all, I was a member of that site. Thanks much for sharing!

I still have my shirt from the 2009 convention. It was a fun time at roebling that year.
Same white car but it was maroon then...
Very cool--and bummed that I missed it. I had an original SE-R back when it was still a new car.
Ya know I signed up for NICO a few years ago but never did much actually nothing but search a specific topic I've already forgotten. Given my 200sx peccadillo I'll have to pay more attention.

That is so cool! It has been very neat over the years to hear about all the people who have been connected to it. My dad has just been focused on collecting Nissans and Datsuns over the years. He has amassed a pretty cool collection that ill be posting about one of these days. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

That car is a complete beast these days. It rips with that VE in it. Very cool build the new owner treats it like a queen.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
No worries. It's looking like we will be hosting it again in Gainesville this year for 2019 so we would love to have you there.
Congrats on the successful meet! Looks like an amazing time.
That MR2 was built by a friend of mine. Such a cool car.

The B13 SE-R is a great looking car. Such a cool package.
Awesome! I was a member of NICO like a decade ago. It's nice seeing all those B13s... I now have an S13 with a turbo VE SR20. love these cars.

Love the shoebox first gen cars.
Good to see that these are still going! I had a blast at the Ohio convention back in 2012.
Dude. Your dad started NICO Club?
There's where a lot of my teenage years were spent right there. I think I have been registered since 2002 (or sometime around there). That's where I learned how to search!
Looks like a ton of fun. Glad to see there's so much life left in the community.

Yeah he did. It was cool to be apart of that in the early days. Its been cool to see the convention come back to life.
Resurrecting this old crazy thread. The convention is happening in Florida again this year! April 23rd - 25th its going to be really great. I'm surprised we have as many cars registered as we do. Track day at the Florida International Rally and Motorsports park on the 24th. Car show on the 25th in Gainesville.

Ill be out there with my rally b13 and hopefully, my dad will bring the Silvia again for the car show.
