A friend of mine visiting Sri Lanka just shot me a message about attending the "Columbo Night Race" - basically an F1-style course set up with tires and sandbags through the heart of the city, where everything from fully-prepped racecars, to vintage show cars, to exotics, to daily drivers get to race, at night, through the city. She said it was pretty amazing, more like going to a stage rally with people everywhere and not much in the way of crash protection.
