I've heard online that some SRS systems will disable the emergency seatbelt pre-tensioners if part of the system is non-functioning, but don't know if that's true or not for Porsche. Since you don't have side impact bags, which IMO are the really important ones, I wouldn't worry too much. Just remove the dumb bulb in the cluster.

Either way, don't take that as a reason to put racing harnesses in because that's a TERRIBLE idea in a street car without a cage (prevents you from checking blind spot, will keep you upright in a rollover and ensure your spine breaks, etc). Just stick with the OE three-points.

What is the reason for wanting to take the airbags out in the first place? Unless you are caging the car, I would stay away from a harness and removing actual safety features.

Are there liability or insurance issues if you or someone else were to get injured in the vehicle after you actively disabled safety devices?

As for the rides with your son, get an airbag cut off switch installed so you can turn off the passenger airbag when he goes for a ride. Actually...check to see if the car already has one. I believe sports cars started getting them in the late 90s.

I thought it through and I'm not going to do it. For less money I can simply upgrade to a newer 3-spoke wheel and keep the airbags functional. Disabling it seems like a hack move, and I'm trying to build this project up to a standard. Having to pull bulbs doesn't align with this my build ethos for this car. Plus, I don't want the liability.
